Following the Ribbon

I had the most wonderful encounter today with a stranger.  In the course of doing something for my day job I encountered a lovely and interesting person. We almost immediately began to discuss the world in terms of spirtuality, fear vs enthusiasm and of course, energy.  To my delight there on a random street I had found yet another member of our tribe.

We talked about what it was like to be around people who have not yet awakened to the potential that is all around us.  Contrary to the assumption of that crowd there was no judgement or anger toward them.  Quite to the contrary we were both filled with compassion for people who are operating from a sense of fear and uncertainty.  We discussed how each of us in our own lives have been at similiar places.   The only difference is that both of us knew in those times that this is not how the Universe works, we knew we had strayed from our own relationship with universal knowledge.  We talked of how difficult it would be to exist on this planet, especially right now, without an abiding sense of faith and understanding of the quantum nature of reality.  There is a vast difference between feeling powerless in your life and willingly surrendering to the flow of the Universe and its laws.  Especially when you believe, as we both did, that our own intention can have a profound and powerful effect on how those laws effect our own experience.

I made mention of the fact that every day, no matter what I’m doing or where I am, I simply try to follow the ribbon.  For the first time someone actually asked me to explain that concept.  How wonderful!  I told him that unlike a clearly defined path the Ribbon is more fluid and asks for you to remain flexible and transcend normal human control issues to find and follow it.  Later I realized that in my life today it is often like following the scent of a wonderful perfume through a crowd.  I can’t see it and yet I know it is there.  My meditations, dedication to being of service on this planet and enthusiasm for my life helps me to find and keep the scent.  Consequently I normally feel I am exactly where I am supposed to be and doing what I’m supposed to be doing.

As the mental image would imply, there are ups and down, curves and beautiful colors in the Ribbon. To me they represent all the different lessons and wonders my life has to offer.  Don Draper, a character on the television show Mad Men tell us about good ideas that, “You know it when you see it.”  The same is true of that ribbon of energy that guides me through the sometimes challenge laden reality that I have manifested for myself.

I should note that this is not just a mental image though it is certainly helpful as one.  This is a description of the frequency of energy I both seek out and try to eminate.  It is elevated by seemingly random conversations, trips to hear the Dalai Lama, sunsets and time spent with loved ones.  It both protects and guides me.  People who are not in alignment with that frequency of energy generally speaking do not bother me and I have little interaction with them.  I am acutely reminded when dealing with a person who comes from fear or competition that I am not them and my job is to be as compassionate as possible to both of us in the situation.

Today was a reminder that when you let go and trust in the impartial laws of this Universe you truly do end up in just the right place at the right time.  I feel I made a new friend today and also shared with him some energy that we both needed.  A good time was had by all!
